The Manu Biosphere Reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site designated to protect the globally important Amazon rainforest in and around Manu National Park, southeastern Peru.

Founded: 1968
Area: 17,162.95 sq km
Geography: It includes diverse ecosystems such as lowland rainforests, cloud forests and Andean grasslands. The park is divided into different areas: the restricted use zone, the reserved zone, the recuperation zone and the cultural zone. 

Survival Tips
1. Wearing long sleeves to prevent mosquitos bite
2. Put down the mosquito net before dust
3. Always keep a safe distance of 2 meters with snakes
4. Make a lot of noise and stand tall when encounter big cats e.g. jaguar and puma
5. Never touch any trees as there might be sharp spikes
6. Do not stand on or near ant nest
7. Run when wasps/ hair cutting bee attack

Packing Check-list for a 5 days trip
1. Clothing: T-shirts short & long sleeves, Cotton Shirts, Jacket, Underwear, Socks, Trousers, Shorts, Poncho, Rainboots thick insoles, swimsuit, flip flops, Bandana / cap, comfortable lounging clothes, large and small rucksack
2. Electronics: Camera and battery, GOOD head torch (70+ lumens), electrical adapter, battery charger
3. Equipments: Penknife, compass, binoculars, silica gel sachets, whistle, walking stick
4. Toiletry kit: Biodegradable soap and shampoo, large travel towel and face cloth, toothbrush and toothpaste, insect repellent
5. Essential document: passport, visa, money, medical details
6. Others: books, sweets, snacks

Activities
1. Night hike to see frogs, snakes and nocturnal mammals 
2. Morning and afternoon hike to see butterflies and mammals
3. Early morning clay lick to see beautiful Macaws (do not wear bright colour clothings)
4. Chill out in the mammock with music and a good book
5. Watching stars/ milky way on the riverbank at night
6. Football on a Saturday afternoon

Itinerary 
Day 1
Cusco - Cloud Forest
Depart Cucso early and start the journey by road through the Andes and into the Cloud Forest. 
Stop at Paucartambo and Acjanaco ranger station along the way to experience some local culture.
